The Mental Capacity Act came into force on 1st April 2007. This exciting development brings in a statutory requirement for local authorities to provide an Independent Mental Capacity Advocacy service.

USS, in co-operation with our colleagues and partners, Advocacy Northamptonshire, is very proud to announce that we have become NCC's preferred provider of IMCA services.

What's it all about?

An Independent Mental Capacity Advocate (IMCA) will be able to act on behalf of those service-users deemed to have no capacity, and no appropriate family or friends to be able to act for them.

It's the first time Advocacy has become a statutory requirement, so it is a great step forward in service-provision!
